The new KLX150, successors to the KLX150L and KLX150 respectively, offer riders serious off-road performance for riding in the jungle and on other off-road trails. A simple, yet reliable air-cooled single-cylinder engine and highly rigid, box-section perimeter frame are complemented by large-diameter wheels. Riders have two wheel sizes to choose from. The KLX150 uses 19” front and 16” rear to overcome obstacles encountered on the trail.
Styling inspired by KX motocross racers gives the bike’s aggressive, sporty looks that reflect their off-road potential. The racy styling of the new KLX150BF and KLX150 was inspired by the design of Kawasaki’s KX motocrossers, and in particular the KX450F. Their more aggressive design is a reflection of their off-road prowess.
With the highly rigid perimeter frame of the KLX150L, plus updated suspension settings (including an inverted fork for the KLX150BF), and new brake discs (and pads for the KLX150), the KLX150BF and KLX150 offer greater off-road performance for all-day bush rides. Both models also deliver increased off-road riding comfort and reliability.
The 4-stroke air-cooled single cylinder engine offers a lightweight power plant with both reliability and strong performance. 5-speed transmission ensures there is a gear for every situation, enabling quick pick-up when accelerating from a stop, and relaxed cruising ability when riding at higher speeds. 5-plate clutch uses three different types of friction plates to ensure durability while reducing clutch noise. Electric starter ensures quick, hassle-free starting. A kick starter is also featured, providing a reliable back-up should battery power be low.
All-round tyres offer excellent off-road traction as well as good on-road performance to allow riders to reach remote trails.
Combined with the highly rigid frame, highly capable suspension ensures excellent handling and feedback. On the KLX150, a ø33 mm telescopic front fork with 175 mm of wheel travel contributes to controllability even on rough terrain. Revised settings help reduce bottoming when riding off-road.
Radiator shrouds feature a two-piece design. Their minimalist design means they are small and are slim where they come in contact with the rider’s legs. KX-inspired two-tone seat contributes to racy looks and adds a high-quality image. Together with the shrouds, its pattern creates a line that flows from the front to the rear of the bike. Aggressive taillight design complements the bikes’ racy image. The long rear flap integrates the rear turn signals for a compact, tidy design.
