MEGURO S1

THE CENTENNIAL BEAT: COMMEMORATING 100 YEARS OF HERITAGE

MEGURO S1

Since 1924, the MEGURO brand has been renowned for its large-capacity engines, high performance, and exceptional quality. It became a symbol of admiration among Japanese riders of that era. The MEGURO S1, the only sport model in the 250cc class, continues the legacy of Kawasaki, embodying over a century of reliability and craftsmanship.

The MEGURO S1 is not only the successor to the Kawasaki 250 Meguro SG, which was introduced in 1964, but also carries forward the lineage of the "MEGURO Single" from the pre-war period. Powered by a 250cc SOHC 4-stroke air-cooled engine, it boasts an impressive heritage. The connection to larger motorcycles like the “Meguro K3” and the “W800” is evident in its design. The teardrop-shaped fuel tank, featuring a blend of black and chrome, highlights the distinctive MEGURO aesthetic. The MEGURO emblem on the tank is crafted by Japanese artisans, similar to the one seen on the Meguro K3. Furthermore, the dashboard retains its classic white finish, distinguishing it from the W230 model.

This motorcycle is a testament to the enduring spirit of MEGURO, merging tradition with modern performance, and offering a timeless appeal to riders.

Kawasaki 250 Meguro SG-Inspired Looks

The Meguro S1 draws direct design inspiration from the legendary motorcycle in Kawasaki and Meguro’s history: the Kawasaki 250 Meguro SG, produced in 1964. The design seen in the Meguro S1 clearly inherits elements from its ancestors, maintaining a timeless coolness that remains beautiful just like in 1964.

The meter features a classic font specially designed to match the traditional gauges of the Kawasaki 250 Meguro SG, with a white center, white numbers on a black background, and the distinctive red logo printed in Katakana at the bottom.

The traditional meter consists of separate speedometer and tachometer with classic displays. The multifunction LCD screen includes a trip meter, odometer, and clock. Various warning lights include the FI warning light, turn signal indicator, fuel level warning light, high beam warning light, and neutral gear indicator.

Meguro 100 Years Anniversary

Since 1924, the MEGURO brand has been recognized for its large displacement, high performance, and superior quality, earning admiration among Japanese riders of that time. The MEGURO S1 is the only sport model in the 250cc class that inherits the heritage and reliability of the Kawasaki brand, which has been established for over 100 years.

Fuel-Injected 233 cm³ Air-Cooled 4-Stroke Single Engine

The engine of this motorcycle is a 4-stroke, single-cylinder SOHC with a displacement of 233 cc, developed from the KLX230. It features improved exhaust sound that is unique to the MEGURO SG. The enhanced power delivery in the low to mid RPM range makes for a comfortable and relaxed riding experience. Additionally, a balancer has been installed to further increase riding comfort. The fuel injection system operates with precision and stability in all weather conditions, making it easy to start and providing smooth responsiveness. Meanwhile, the gear-driven balancer helps reduce engine vibration, resulting in a noticeably smoother and higher quality ride.

The exhaust pipe is designed to be positioned on the right side of the engine to enhance aesthetics and emphasize the curve extending from the engine to the muffler tip. The middle section of the pipe contains a catalytic converter for controlling emissions and is covered with a heat shield, giving it a straight and stylish appearance. Additionally, the pipe connecting to the muffler is designed with the same diameter as the muffler tip, creating a sleek overall look. Finally, the entire exhaust system is made from polished stainless steel for added shine and durability.

Lightweight Semi-Double Cradle Frame

The lightweight frame of the Meguro S1 is designed with a size that allows for easy and straightforward handling. The Meguro S1 is one of the lightest models in the 250cc retro sport motorcycle segment, weighing only 143 kg,(Dry Weight 133 kg.) largely due to its light frame. This makes for a comfortable ride with a light and predictable handling character that every rider is sure to appreciate.

Composed Suspension

The traditional 37 mm telescopic front fork, with a 27.0° caster angle and a 99 mm trail, provides slow and stable cornering characteristics. The twin rear shock absorbers offer a smooth ride and calm handling, enhancing the rider's confidence and enjoyment. The rear shocks are adjustable in 5 levels, with the standard setting at level 2.

Traditional-Looking Wheels, Tyres and Brakes

The 18-inch front and 17-inch rear spoked wheels give the W family a classic look. The relationship between the suspension system and tire pressure has also been optimized for high-quality riding comfort. The front tire is 90/90-18M/C 51S, while the rear tire is 110/90-17M/C 60S. The front brake features a ø265 mm round disc paired with a dual-piston caliper, providing sufficient stopping power. The rear brake has a ø220 mm round disc operated by a single-piston caliper, slowing down the rear wheel. *Standard ABS enhances confidence in various riding situations.

Accessible Ergonomics

Riders will find the MEGURO S1 highly accessible, thanks to its lightweight body and relaxed reach to the ground, made possible by the slim seat design and low seat height. The relaxed riding position and upright posture provide a comfortable ride and make controlling the motorcycle easier.
