KLX230R

DESIGNED FROM THE GROUND UP FOR DIRT FUN:
LIGHT, MANOEUVRABLE, POWERFUL PLAY BIKE

KLX230R

Purpose-built for riders looking for off-road fun on woodland or desert trails, Kawasaki’s new KLX230R features an engine and frame both designed from the start with trail riding in mind. The all-new 233 cm3 air-cooled, 4-stroke Single engine delivers ample low-mid range torque, and its simple construction makes it suitable for tough terrain. The all-new compact perimeter frame was designed to offer the handling stability needed for confident trail riding, while superior ground clearance and suspension travel enhance off-road capability. Extensive feedback from Kawasaki test riders helped achieve an engine-chassis balance that a wide range of riders – especially new and intermediate riders – will enjoy. KX inspiration can be found in the slim ergonomics and aggressive bodywork. The new KLX230R offers a number of advantages versus its dual-purpose brother, the KLX230: a lightweight plastic fuel tank, aluminium swingarm, light 115 kg weight, and greater wheel travel (250 mm) and ground clearance (300 mm). All in all, the new highly-capable play bike (with 21”/18” wheels) is light, manoeuvrable and powerful, making it an ideal partner for off-road adventure with friends or family.

ENGINE: Fuel-injected 233 cm3 air-cooled 4-stroke Single engine

The KLX230R features an all-new engine. Its ample, smooth torque creates an easy-to-handle character and delivers linear acceleration. The engine is compact, contributing to the bike’s easy manoeuvrability and light weight, and the simple construction afforded by air-cooling makes it ideal for trail riding.

CHASSIS: All-new compact perimeter frame

Designed from the start for off-road riding use, the all-new high-tensile steel perimeter frame offers the handling stability needed for confident trail riding. Extensive feedback from Kawasaki test riders helped achieve the highly accommodating balance between engine and frame that enables a wide range of riders to enjoy the KLX230R.

SUSPENSION: LONG-TRAVEL SUSPENSION

ø37 mm telescopic fork handles suspension duties up front. Its long 250 mm of travel contributes to controllability even on rough terrain. At the rear, New Uni Trak rear suspension with 251 mm of wheel travel provides great road holding ability and bump absorption. Single rear shock absorber with pressurised nitrogen gas is adjustable for preload, allowing riders to set the bike up for their weight.

ERGONOMICS: SLIM ERGONOMICS

A combination of form and function, the frame was also designed to be easy to grip with the legs, offering superior chassis control to the rider. Seams between the shrouds, seat and side covers are very flush, which facilitates control as well as moving around on the bike. Like Kawasaki’s KX racers, the flat design of the tank and seat gives the rider greater freedom of movement when changing riding position, and facilitates sitting farther forward.

BRAKES: Petal disc brakes front and rear provide sure stopping power.

A ø240 mm front disc gripped by a twin-piston caliper offers strong, easy-to-control braking. Slowing the rear, a single-piston caliper operates a ø220 mm disc.
